AET has been supported in the past, or is currently supported by Comic Relief, Diana Princess of Wales Foundation, DFID, NORAD, CAFOD, Christian Aid, the European Commission, Barings Foundation, the UK National Lotteries Fund, Esmée Fairbairn Charitable Trust, Stanley Thomas Johnson Trust, The Leathersellers' Company Charitable Fund and David Montifiore Charitable Trust, with many others who have provided donations for our work.

Like all charities, AET needs constant funding to be able to survive. Would you like to support us too? If your answer is "Yes", please find further details on our donations page.

AET is one of the few innovative charitable bodies to focus specifically on education in Africa. We run a diverse and comprehensive range of projects, mostly in Africa, in support of the right to a basic education for children and young people, especially young girls and women who are often excluded from school, the disabled, those who are socially marginalised and child soldiers who have known only of violence (amongst others).
AET works closely with African communities and alongside local offices in Africa, employing local staff. As a small NGO with only a handful of full time staff, AET also regularly enlist the knowledge and expertise of our UK staff for participation in workshops and training in Africa.

From the UK we can also deliver essential school and library resources, and equipment to Africa, which has been donated to us from UK organisations, schools and individuals. Some of our programmes in Africa have also been supported by UK based teachers who have volunteered their services during their summer break. This is invaluable as many African teachers in conflict regions are currently untrained and their skills are enriched through the hands-on help of a qualified mentor.

AET also run projects in the UK as well as in Africa, amounting to around 20% of our work. These projects are run in support of refugees of African decent and African students who are studying in the UK. We are also involved in the research and dissemination of information relating to Africa.

AET are bound to have something of interest to you, and you may wish to contribute towards our work. Please follow our links to project work in Africa and the UK to find out just how much AET and the African communities whom we help, are achieving.
